In Santa Barbara, as well as many other travel destinations, there is a new wave of sustainable hospitality that’s reshaping the vacation experience. And at Haller Coastal  Homes, we believe that luxury and responsibility can coexist.  Our commitment to sustainable practices extends well beyond nice views and lavish accommodations. We believe in, and want to be a part of, a world where reducing waste, embracing renewable energy, and caring for the planet are at the forefront of the travel experience.

Reducing Waste and Embracing Recycling
One of our key sustainability initiatives is to reduce waste and recycle at each of our properties. From recycling programs to waste reduction strategies, we strive to minimize our environmental footprint without ever compromising the quality of your stay.

Beyond Single-Use: Refillables for a Greener Tomorrow
In order to help eliminate single-use plastics, we’ve said goodbye to disposable toiletries and kitchen items. Instead, we’re utilizing refillable amenities that enhance your comfort, but also significantly reduce plastic waste. Our shower and bath facilities feature earth-friendly shampoos, conditioners, and lotions, which are carefully curated to be both luxurious and environmentally responsible. And all are free from animal testing!  We invite our guests to indulge in the pleasure of mindful luxury—and enjoy a vacation that leaves a positive impact on the planet.

Solar-Powered Escapes: Harnessing the Energy of the Sun
As the sun drenches Santa Barbara in its golden glow, it also powers many of our vacation properties. Many already feature solar panels, and we’re thrilled to say that additional solar installations are scheduled for the upcoming year. Utilizing the ample energy from the sun, we aim to diminish dependence on conventional energy sources, fostering a more eco-friendly and sustainable community.

Smart Living for a Sustainable Tomorrow
Many of our homes are equipped with smart heating and air conditioning devices, as well. These innovative technologies not only enhance your comfort by providing precise climate control, but also contribute to energy conservation. By optimizing energy usage, we’re minimizing our environmental impact without compromising the comfort you expect on your Santa Barbara getaway.

Revolutionizing Linen Services: Less Water, More Sustainability
Our commitment to sustainability extends to the very fabric of your stay—literally! We’ve partnered with a linen service company that not only uses less water in washing linens in bulk, but also employs advanced sanitization processes. This not only guarantees an elevated level of hygiene for our guests but also markedly diminishes water usage when compared with customary washer/dryer arrangements.

Community-Centric Giving: Supporting Local Causes
Beyond the confines of our vacation homes, we’re actively engaged in giving back to the community. One local donation center, DAWG, receives the gently used blankets from our properties, providing warmth and comfort to animals in need. Additionally, we donate all replaced furnishings to local thrift stores, extending the life of our pre-loved items and contributing to a circular economy in and around Santa Barbara.

At Haller Coastal  Homes, we want every guest to be a partner in our mission to leave Santa Barbara a bit better than we found it. We invite you to experience a vacation where each moment isn’t just an escape, but a conscious choice to help our planet. Join us in redefining the art of vacationing, where sustainability isn’t just a feature; it’s at the core of your Santa Barbara getaway.

Or hit the streets aboard the Santa Barbara Trolley for their Trolley of Lights Tour.  A huge favorite of both locals and folks from all over the country, this tour sells out quickly each year…..so don’t delay and buy your tickets today.  You’ll cruise in style during this 90-minute excursion among the festive lights of Santa Barbara…hot cider included!

Want a spectacular light show that is uniquely Santa Barbara?  Check out the Harbor Parade of Lights.  For 36 years, this event has been warming the hearts of onlookers and never disappoints.  You can view best from Stearns Wharf, West Beach, East Beach and more.  It’s an amazing boat parade and features fireworks too!  Our West Beach Villa 3 is the perfect property nearby.  With its historic past and amazing restoration, you’ll have a holiday to remember as you settle in there after each day of festivities.

Ready to jumpstart the Christmas season with some holiday shows?  Well Santa Barbara can deliver.  Grab the crew and head to The Granada Theatre, which has been a local landmark for almost a century, and offers many shows and performances during November and December.  This year those include:  The Westmont Christmas Festival, Samara Joy, A Winter Music Showcase, and The Nutcracker.

The Lobero Theatre is another icon, and offers a great holiday slate of performances including:  Rudolph, Christmas with the Petersens, Jose Feliciano, and The Revels-Tales from Ellis Island.

When you are ready to hit the town with the family and enjoy some great holiday shopping, you’ll find a ton of options in the State Street area. It’s the hub of shopping in Santa Barbara, and on the first Thursday of each month, the Promenade Market showcases many local artisans and makers…and you’ll find some great food and drink, as well.

For a real taste of the local art scene, stop in at The Yes Store, an arts & crafts cooperative offering handmade goods by local artisans.  For over 50 years they’ve been spotlighting the local talent in their holiday showcase, and begin again this year on November 2!

And when you are ready to wind down and reflect on your unforgettable holiday vacation, venture out to take in the seasonal atmosphere.  The Pearl has long been a local favorite, and each year during this time it transforms into a winter wonderland of sorts as The Miracle at Pearl Social.  With its 90’s-esque feel, cheery colors, kooky Christmas collectible cocktail vessels and more, you can’t help but smile as you spend an evening here.  This pop-up Christmas bar runs from mid-November through December 31 each year, and is a popular hangout for anyone seeking some yuletide cheer.

Santa Barbara is a place where adventure meshes with picturesque beachscapes and an amazing town full of culture and history. Its coastal areas make it one of the top playgrounds for kiteboarding, parasailing, and hydrofoiling enthusiasts. So, pack that gear and get ready for an adrenaline-filled getaway as we dive into why Santa Barbara is the perfect destination for these exhilarating watersports.

Kiteboarding: Ocean Meets Air

Imagine feeling the wind rush by you as you glide across the waves! Santa Barbara’s stunning beaches, consistent winds, and vibrant kiting community make it a mecca for kiteboarders. East Beach, renowned for its steady winds and wide shores, provides plenty of space for adrenaline junkies to hit the waves and hone their skills. Or if you’re looking for a more challenging experience, Leadbetter Beach offers powerful waves and ideal wind conditions. Here, kiteboarders can test their mettle against the ocean’s force while enjoying sweeping views of the California coastline.

Looking for a little more adventure?  You’re in luck.  Santa Barbara’s close proximity to the Channel Islands offers kiteboarders a chance to shred some big water amidst stunning marine life.  Here you may spend your session alongside dolphins, humpback whales, and more.

Parasailing: Explore the Skies

If you want a bird’s eye view of Santa Barbara, parasailing is the perfect choice. Floating along at a stunning elevation of 1000’, you’ll get amazing views of the Channel Islands, the Santa Barbara Harbor, and more.  Santa Barbara Parasail is the perfect choice, and they offer experienced, licensed captains to make sure your experience is memorable.  They depart daily from Stearn’s Wharf, weather-permitting.

Hydrofoiling: Where Adrenaline Meets Grace

Hydrofoiling is one of the most cutting-edge sports in the surfing industry.  And it’s no surprise that Santa Barbara is a great spot to glide effortlessly above the water as you enjoy it. Merging the thrill of kiteboarding with the grace of surfing, hydrofoiling takes that rush to a whole new level. Designed in the late 19th century, the hydrofoil utilizes some pretty advanced physics to seemingly “float” above the surface of the water.  The submerged foil, attached to a modified surfboard, allows the board to levitate a few feet above the water and greatly reduces the drag on the board.  This results in an amazingly smooth, gliding ride across the ocean without even feeling the chop and waves beneath you.  If you’re looking to try this out for the first time, iSurf Schools even offers lessons on their e-foils, which are propelled by electric motors!  Their eFoil lessons are typically 2 hours, and are offered seven days a week, year-round — weather permitting. They even provide wetsuits, helmets, impact vests, and E-foils so all you have to do is show up and have a great time!

With consistently favorable wind conditions, amazing beaches, and a passionate community of watersports enthusiasts, Santa Barbara is the ideal destination!  Beyond the thrill of the sports themselves, Santa Barbara’s charm lies in its ability to offer the complete experience. Once you dry off, you’ll want to explore the vibes of the downtown area, abundance of world-class cuisine, or unwind at one of the many wineries that dot the region. With its Mediterranean-like climate and natural wonders at every turn, Santa Barbara leaves you yearning for more.

And don’t worry, we’ve got plenty of great options for accommodations that put you close to all the action.  From stunning homes within walking distance to the beach, to charming places right in the midst of the downtown areas, we have the perfect vacation rental property for you.  Browse our amazing inventory of properties by visiting Haller Coastal Homes, and don’t hesitate to give us a call and let us help plan your next getaway.

Been dreaming of a vacation that includes that furry friend of yours?  Then Santa Barbara may be the perfect destination for you!  With miles of stunning beaches to roam, trails and parks in abundance, and plenty of pet-friendly accommodations, it checks all the boxes for the ideal getaway with your pup!
